What the LPDP Scholarship Is
The LPDP scholarship is a full government scholarship managed by Indonesia's Education Fund Management Agency under the Ministry of Finance. It funds master's (S2) and doctoral (S3) studies at domestic universities such as UI, ITB, and UGM, as well as overseas campuses like Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, and NUS. Coverage includes tuition fees and living costs.
LPDP offers several categories, including regular, affirmation, targeted, and educator tracks. Each has specific rules, but the general requirements are largely similar. Registration usually opens twice a year: round 1 around January-February and round 2 around mid-year.
General LPDP Registration Requirements
For the regular track, applicants must be Indonesian citizens aged at most 35 for master's and 40 for doctoral programs. Age limits are more flexible for civil servants, military/police personnel, and affirmation tracks. Minimum GPA is 3.00 for S2 and 3.25 for S3 on a 4.00 scale from an accredited university.
English proficiency is mandatory: domestic study requires at least TOEFL ITP 500 or IELTS 6.0, while overseas study requires at least TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 6.5, valid for no more than two years. Holders of an Unconditional LoA from an LPDP partner university are exempt from the minimum language and GPA requirements. Applicants must also not be receiving another state-funded scholarship.
Documents to Prepare
Prepare documents in digital format before registering: ID card, legalized diploma and transcripts, TOEFL/IELTS certificate, recommendation letters, study-plan and contribution-to-Indonesia essays, and a CV. Doctoral applicants should also prepare a research proposal. A Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the target university is optional but greatly strengthens an application.
All files are generally uploaded as PDFs with a maximum size of 1-2 MB each. Make sure file names follow the guidelines and documents open clearly.
