Passport Registration via the M-Paspor App

A passport is the mandatory travel document for citizens heading abroad. Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration now serves new and replacement passport applications online through the M-Paspor app, downloadable from the Play Store and App Store. Apply early before peak holiday seasons, when appointment slots at popular immigration offices fill up quickly.

Through the app, applicants fill in personal data, upload the required documents, then choose the nearest immigration office and an appointment slot. This scheduled online system cuts queues and makes the process more predictable.

Passport Document Requirements

Adult applicants must prepare their electronic ID card (e-KTP) and a valid family card. One supporting document is needed: a birth certificate, diploma, or marriage book — choose the one whose data best matches your ID and family card.

Make sure document photos or scans are bright, uncropped, and clearly legible so they pass system verification. For passport replacement, also prepare the old passport as an additional document.

Interview, Biometrics, and Collection

On the appointment day, applicants must bring the original documents previously uploaded plus proof of payment. Officers will check the files, take a biometric photo and fingerprints, then conduct a short interview about the purpose of the passport application.

Answer the interview honestly and clearly, as inconsistent statements can affect approval. Once all stages are complete, a regular passport can usually be collected about four working days later. Arrive on time and dress neatly so the process runs smoothly.

2026 Passport Fee Breakdown

The official non-tax state revenue tariffs are: non-electronic ordinary passport Rp350,000 (5 years) and Rp650,000 (10 years); electronic passport (e-passport) Rp650,000 (5 years) and Rp950,000 (10 years). Same-day expedited service is available for an additional Rp1,000,000.

The e-passport carries a biometric chip storing fingerprint and facial data digitally. Its advantages include passing through airport autogates without counter queues and easier visa-waiver applications for Japan. Pay only through official channels — banks, ATMs, mobile banking, or convenience stores — and beware of scams impersonating immigration officers.
