Eat Balanced Nutrition Every Day

Nutrition fuels every body function, including the immune system. Indonesia's Ministry of Health recommends the Balanced Nutrition Guidelines: on one plate, combine staple foods (carbohydrates), side dishes (protein and healthy fats), and vegetables and fruits (vitamins and minerals) in the right portions.

Several nutrients are proven important for immunity. Get vitamin C from oranges, bell peppers, and strawberries; vitamin D from sunlight and fatty fish; zinc from meat, legumes, and seeds; and protein from eggs, fish, tofu, and tempeh. Add iron and magnesium too. Brightly colored vegetables and fruits are generally rich in immune-supporting antioxidants.

Get Enough Sleep and Exercise Regularly

Sleep duration and quality are closely tied to immunity. During sleep, the body carries out recovery processes; when sleep falls short, metabolism is disrupted and the immune system weakens. Meet your age-appropriate sleep needs and keep a regular bedtime.

Regular physical activity also strengthens immunity. Choose moderate-intensity exercise you enjoy — morning walks, cycling, swimming, or aerobics — and do it consistently. Overexercising can temporarily suppress immunity, so match it to your body's capacity.

Morning Sun and Stress Management

Morning sunbathing helps the body produce vitamin D, which is vital for immunity. Spend 10–15 minutes in the morning sun, for instance while taking a leisurely walk or doing light exercise.

Prolonged stress can weaken immune defenses. Manage stress in healthy ways: get enough rest, enjoy hobbies, pray or meditate, and talk with people close to you. Good mental health contributes to strong immunity. Set aside time each day to relax and keep your body fit.

Stay Clean and Consult a Doctor

A simple yet crucial step is keeping yourself and your environment clean. Washing hands with soap regularly, keeping the house clean, and practicing cough and sneeze etiquette can break the chain of germ transmission.

If you fall sick repeatedly, have a medical condition, or are considering immune-boosting supplements, consult a doctor for care tailored to your condition.
