Ghosthing Opens 15 October 2026
A new horror-comedy titled Ghosthing is set to hit Indonesian screens. The film by director Arie Azis is scheduled to open in Indonesian cinemas on 15 October 2026, running 100 minutes.
The project brings together a lineup of stars including Baskara Mahendra, Yasamin Jasem, and Mathias Muchus. Among Indonesian films opening in October 2026, Ghosthing is listed in the Drama and Horror-Comedy genres.
The Ghosthing press conference was held at XXI Senayan City, Jakarta, on Friday (9/10/2026), where the cast and director shared behind-the-scenes stories.
Ghosthing Synopsis: The Mortician and the Restless Spirit
Baskara Mahendra plays Alvian, a mortician at a hospital who possesses the sixth sense (indigo). His gift means the spirits he prepares often request their makeup in specific styles. Alvian carries out his profession calmly.
His calm is shattered when he encounters a spirit named Maya (Yasamin Jasem). Maya asks Alvian to help investigate her death, which she believes was suspicious. Feeling constantly disturbed, Alvian eventually agrees to help.
The investigation involves more than Alvian and Maya. Several spirits long familiar with Alvian join in — Mbak Min (Siti Fauziyah), Bang Arip (Tanta Ginting), Ci Natalie (Leony Fitria), Empu Sandung (Iyang Darmawan) — plus a new spirit, Wanda (Chika Waode).
Baskara Mahendra's Makeup Workshop for Ghosthing
To master the mortician profession's specific skills, Arie Azis said Baskara Mahendra attended a workshop with a makeup artist. The director of dozens of horror films added that the makeup practice ran for several days, alongside script reading and action-scene training.
Baskara said the backstory of the Alvian character was a key consideration in accepting the Ghosthing role. Behind the job that deals directly with the deceased lies a deep longing for his mother that he feels outweighs any fear from the profession.
His biggest challenge was executing the situational comedy — building humorous moments from the situations around the character, rather than from funny dialogue.
Ghosthing Cinema Release Schedule
Ghosthing is scheduled to open in Indonesian cinemas on 15 October 2026. Their journey raises a big question: will Alvian uncover the true cause of Maya's death?
For horror-comedy fans, Ghosthing is one of the cinema picks for mid-October 2026.
