Ifan has officially left Govinda, closing out a musical journey that spanned nearly 18 years with the Indonesian band. The decision was announced on Monday, 5 October 2026, through posts on Ifan's personal Instagram account and Govinda's official account. The band stated that the resignation took effect on the day of the announcement.
In its official statement, Govinda stressed that the move was not taken in haste. After a series of meetings and discussions, the three remaining members — Ade Nurulianto, Jeje Ismail, and Yosafat Luki Marendra — mutually accepted Ifan's resignation.
In his farewell post, Ifan said Govinda holds an important place in his life after nearly two decades together. He expressed deep gratitude for the years they shared, describing their growth from friends to family.
Reason Behind the Exit: No Feud, Just Different Paths
Ifan made clear that the separation was not driven by major problems or hostility. Each member, he said, simply chose a different path for their career going forward. He also apologized for any shortcomings during his years performing with Govinda.
In his farewell message, Ifan wished Ade, Jeje, and Luki well as they move ahead. He also thanked MyMusic Records and Skyrock Entertainment for their support throughout Govinda's journey.
For fans, the news is a heavy one: Ifan's voice has been the identity of Govinda ever since the band emerged from the group Domino, formed on 7 October 2008.
18 Years of Ifan with Govinda
Ifan's journey with Govinda began with the group Domino, formed on 7 October 2008. A year later, Domino released its debut album in 2009. In 2010, after moving to the Nagaswara label, Domino rebranded as Govinda, with Ifan remaining as lead vocalist.
Under the new name, Govinda introduced a string of works, including the single "Bawa Aku Lari" from the album Rahasia Besar (2011). That same year, Govinda earned a nomination at the Anugerah Planet Muzik in Malaysia through the song.
Their career continued until now. Following Ifan's departure, Govinda confirmed that the band's activities will carry on with a three-member lineup, with plans for the next phase underway.
What's Next: Ifan as a Solo Artist
Despite leaving Govinda, Ifan confirmed he will continue his music career. He announced he will start a new chapter as a solo artist, working his way up from the beginning. Ifan asked fans to keep him in their prayers as he takes this next step.
As a consequence of the decision, Ifan will no longer use the Govinda name as his stage name, nor perform Govinda's song repertoire in his appearances.
