Official Prayer Schedule from the Ministry of Religious Affairs
Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs, through its Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance (Bimas Islam), publishes daily prayer schedules for the entire country. The times are calculated from the sun's position against each region's geographic coordinates using falak (Islamic astronomy), making them accurate and reliable as a worship reference.
To check it, open the Bimas Islam prayer schedule page, choose your province, then your regency or city. The schedule appears as a table covering Imsak, Fajr (Subuh), Sunrise (Terbit), Dhuha, Dhuhr (Dzuhur), Asr (Ashar), Maghrib, and Isha (Isya).
Example: Today's Prayer Times (Jakarta)
As an example, here is the prayer schedule for Jakarta on Wednesday, October 14, 2026: Imsak at 04:06, Fajr at 04:16, Sunrise at 05:30, Dhuha at 05:54, Dhuhr at 11:41, Asr at 14:46, Maghrib at 17:48, and Isha at 18:58 (Western Indonesia Time).
Note that prayer times vary by region because they follow the sun's movement. Always use the schedule for your own city or regency to stay accurate. Time differences between cities can reach a dozen minutes or more, especially between western and eastern Indonesia.
Other Ways to Check Prayer Times
Besides the Ministry's website, prayer times can be found on notice boards at nearby mosques and prayer rooms. Many mobile apps also show local prayer schedules, complete with automatic adhan alarms, a qibla compass, and a Hijri calendar. Mosque notice boards are usually refreshed at the start of each month.
Some radio and TV stations also broadcast prayer-time markers, especially the Maghrib adhan that signals iftar during Ramadan. Frequent travelers can save the schedule as an image to check it even without an internet connection.
Prioritize Praying at the Earliest Time
In Islam, prayer is an obligation fixed to its appointed times for the believers (Quran, An-Nisa: 103). Performing prayers at the earliest time is highly encouraged as a sign of discipline and devotion to Allah SWT.
By checking the prayer schedule regularly, you will not miss worship times even on busy days. Set a reminder on your phone so you always pray on time. Use the automatic adhan alarm on your phone so you never miss a prayer time.
