Persib's Record Against Vietnamese Clubs
Persib Bandung's record against Vietnamese clubs is under the spotlight ahead of their Group E matchday 2 clash with The Cong-Viettel FC in the 2026-2027 AFC Champions League Two. In club history, Persib have faced a Vietnamese side only once: a crushing 0-4 home defeat to Hanoi FC on 10 February 2015.
For The Cong-Viettel FC, the trip to Si Jalak Harupat Stadium on Wednesday (14/10/2026) at 19:15 Western Indonesian Time is also a first — they have never played an Indonesian club in a competitive or friendly match.
That history means Persib's mission is not only to defend their Group E lead but also to break a winless streak against Vietnamese opposition. A victory over Viettel would be the first ever for Persib against a club from Vietnam.
Maung Bandung's Strong Form Before Kickoff
Persib arrive with high confidence. Coach Igor Tolic's men are unbeaten in their last 32 home matches across all competitions, recording 26 wins and 6 draws. This season, Maung Bandung have also scored in every game they have played.
Their positive continental run continued last week. After beating FC Seoul 1-0 on ACL Two matchday one, Persib thrashed Port FC 3-1 in the ASEAN Club Championship. In total, Marc Klok and company have beaten six foreign teams this season, including Brunei's DPMM FC, Singapore's Tampines Rovers, Malaysia's Sabah FC and the Philippines' Manila Digger.
Balsa Sekulic is the man to watch up front after scoring in Persib's last two home games.
Mission to Hold Top Spot in Group E
A win over The Cong-Viettel FC would cement Persib's position at the top of Group E and keep their hopes of reaching the Round of 16 alive, matching last season's achievement. Persib currently hold 3 points, ahead of Melbourne Victory and The Cong-Viettel on 1 point each, while FC Seoul sit bottom with 0.
The Cong-Viettel are not in their best form. Coach Velizar Popov's side are winless in their last three outings, and their only victory this season came away from home. Ribamar is their main threat, scoring 2 of Viettel's 4 goals this campaign.
The tactical duel between Igor Tolic and Velizar Popov adds extra spice, as the two coaches have never faced each other before.
