Sandy Walsh Recovers, Ready for Persib Debut
Good news for Persib Bandung ahead of their matchday two Group E AFC Champions League Two clash with The Cong-Viettel FC. Sandy Walsh has recovered from injury and is ready to make his debut for Maung Bandung.
The 31-year-old Indonesian national team defender had undergone nearly a month of injury rehabilitation. He has now rejoined full training ahead of the Viettel FC match, and his condition makes him available for the game.
Although he is ready for the upcoming match, coach Igor Tolic has not promised Walsh a starting role. There are still preparation stages to go through so the defender is in the best possible shape for the season. Wednesday night's clash with The Cong-Viettel could be the stage for the defender's debut. Bobotoh supporters are surely eager to see the first outing of a player signed with such big expectations at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.
Walsh's Attributes Seen as Vital for Persib
The Croatian coach believes Walsh's return is a big plus for Persib. The defender's attributes are seen as badly needed in the team's play.
Walsh is also expected to make a difference on the pitch. The Belgian-league product can play in several positions, which could be the solution for Persib to play more balanced across many matches.
Tolic said he was delighted to see the player back in training after such a long time, believing his presence brings a lot of quality and confidence to the team.
Persib's Other Injury Updates
Beyond Sandy Walsh, Tolic also gave updates on several players still dealing with injuries: Gabriel Mutombo, Beckham Putra, and Gakuto Notsuda.
Gabriel Mutombo has just undergone morning medical checks to determine the severity of his injury. Beckham Putra shows very good and far-progressed recovery, but it is still being assessed whether he can play or should be saved for the next match. Meanwhile, Gakuto Notsuda continues to show positive progress based on the latest medical scans.
