First Trial at the Corruption Court

Former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah officially stood trial for the first time in an alleged corruption and money-laundering case. The hearing took place at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (7/10/2026).

The trial was presided over by Chief Judge Akhmad Fijiarsyah Joko Sutrisno. After the indictment was read out, Febrie was caught on camera shaking hands with and greeting the public prosecutors before meeting his legal team.

The case draws attention because Febrie once held a strategic law-enforcement position at the Attorney General's Office, and now sits in the dock facing extortion and money-laundering charges worth hundreds of billions of rupiah.

Alleged Rp55 Billion Extortion

In the hearing, prosecutors charged Febrie with extorting property businessman Tan Kian for Rp55 billion, or SGD 5 million. The extortion was allegedly carried out so the businessman would not be named a suspect in the corruption cases of PT Asabri and Jiwasraya.

Febrie was also charged with receiving Rp60 billion plus requesting a hotel in Bali in exchange for removing witness files in a textile corruption case. In addition, he was charged with receiving Rp12 billion for handling the corruption case of the BTS 4G BAKTI project of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

Other charges allege Febrie received Rp14 billion in shares in the Krakatau Steel corruption case as well as money flows from the Jasa Marga and Waskita cases.

Rp346.7 Billion Laundering and 74 Kg of Gold

Beyond extortion, prosecutors charged Febrie together with Nurman Herin, Don Ritto, and Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang with money laundering of up to Rp346,743,821,282 and USD440,990.

In the case construction, prosecutors allege the money and assets Febrie obtained were disguised in various forms: placed in certain accounts, used as business capital, spent on land, buildings, vehicles, and gold, and converted into foreign currency.

Prosecutors say Febrie, through Don Ritto, bought a restaurant later renamed Cafe de'Clan in Cipete. Investigators also cracked open three safes containing 74 kilograms of gold and hundreds of billions of rupiah linked to the case.

Defense to File Two Exception Notes

After the hearing, Febrie's lawyers said the indictment had not proven the truth of all the allegations. Patra M. Zen described the 106-page indictment as covering extortion in office and money laundering.

The defense team said it will file two exception notes: one from Febrie Adriansyah personally and one from the legal team. Febri Diansyah outlined several notes, including a change in the tempus delicti period from 2018-2026 to 2020-2026 and substantial differences between the initial investigation reports (BAP) and the indictment.

The exception hearing is scheduled for 14 October 2026. All allegations remain prosecutorial charges and have not become final court verdicts, so the presumption of innocence continues to apply.
