You Can Check Your Own Credit Score, for Free
Before applying for a mortgage, vehicle loan, or credit card, it is wise to check your own credit history first. This service is known as BI Checking, now called SLIK (Sistem Layanan Informasi Keuangan, Financial Services Information System) and managed by Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK).
Through SLIK, you can view your entire loan history and collectibility rating. The check is official, free, and can be done online without visiting an office — simply through the OJK's iDebku portal.
How to Check SLIK OJK via iDebku
Open idebku.ojk.go.id in a phone or computer browser, then choose the “Pendaftaran” (Registration) menu. Fill in the service-availability form: debtor type (individual/business), ID type (national ID/passport), ID number, and citizenship, then click “Selanjutnya” (Next).
Complete your personal data — full name, place and date of birth, active email address, phone number, and home address. Upload a photo of the ID card (maximum 4 MB) and a photo of yourself as instructed, including a selfie holding the ID if requested.
Double-check all the data, tick the consent box, and click “Ajukan Permohonan” (Submit Application). Save the registration number sent to your email to track progress in the “Status Layanan” (Service Status) menu. The Debtor Information (iDeb) report will be emailed to you no later than 1 working day after registration.
Other Ways: IDScore, Skor Life, and OJK Offices
Besides iDebku, credit scores can also be checked through the IDScore website (idscore.id) after creating an account, or through the Skor Life app downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store.
For those who prefer face-to-face service, checks can also be done offline at the nearest OJK office: fill in the Debtor Information request form, submit identity documents, and the iDeb result will be sent to the registered email after verification.
Reading the Result and Keeping Your Score Healthy
The iDeb report lists all credit facilities under your name along with their collectibility status, from 1 (current) to 5 (loss). If your score is 3 (substandard) or worse, new loan applications will most likely be rejected by banks — settle the arrears and wait for the SLIK data to update to improve it.
One clarification: SLIK is not a blacklist. Credit decisions remain the authority of each financial institution. Check at least once a year to make sure there are no erroneous entries or fictitious loans under your name.
One important warning: never pay for BI Checking/SLIK check services from unknown parties. The official OJK service is completely free, and anyone asking for payment for it should be treated as a suspected scam.
