Former Supreme Court Justice to Testify as Expert Witness
Dr. Richard Lee's legal team is preparing several expert witnesses for the next hearing of the case against him on Thursday (October 15, 2026). The headline move is the plan to present a former justice of Indonesia's Supreme Court to offer legal perspective in court.
Lee's attorney, Faizal Hafied, said the figure has a long track record in law. The former justice reportedly worked as an advocate, served as a member of the House of Representatives, and most recently served on the Supreme Court bench. Hafied said the figure has "extraordinary experience" in law and is expected to help clarify the case entangling his client.

Alleged Falsified Evidence Under Scrutiny
At the upcoming hearing, the legal team will also challenge the validity of the evidence used in the case. They question the alleged use of illegitimate exhibits in the legal process.
According to Hafied, the team found an alleged mismatch between the statement of the party known as Doktif, the reporting witness, and the evidence seized by investigators. Doktif allegedly said he only submitted a USB drive, while the seized items were reportedly printed documents. On that basis, the team plans to request oversight from the Supreme Court Supervisory Body (Bawas MA), the Judicial Commission (KY), and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) so the legal process follows facts and applicable rules.
Forensic Finance Expert Also in Lineup
Besides the former Supreme Court justice, Lee's legal team is preparing a forensic finance expert. The expert is expected to help explain the case from a financial angle so that Dr. Richard Lee's position becomes clearer before the panel of judges.
Hafied hopes the experts' testimony will clarify the matter and ensure any ruling is handed down as fairly as possible, in line with the legal facts.
Richard Lee Trial Still Ongoing
The case against Dr. Richard Lee involves the party known as Doktif as the reporting witness. The trial is still ongoing and the court has yet to hand down a verdict, so everyone named in this report remains entitled to the presumption of innocence.
